Scorers- Ryan Fielding (3) Rhys (1)In our first game with a full team we manged to win a close hard fought game in poor weather conditions.
It took six minutesf or the first goal when Ryan Carson's cross from a corner was met at the back post and head home from 5 yds by Ryan Feilding. In a busy thirteenth minute we lost mackenzie to injury where our fist trialist Gavin Wilson replaced him in left mid and had an excellent game. Jack Thomson blocks a certain goal scoring chance from six yds. In the 35th minute our keeper Peter McClaghan (who had an outstanding game) saves a good shot that was heading for the top left hand corner. From the resulting corner Andrew Herbison headed clear to Rhys Swierkot whose through ball saw Ryan Fielding shoot low to the keepers left to claim his second goal of the half. On the 38th minute Rhys completes a good first half performance with a turn and shot too beat the keeper (stunning goal). On the stroke of half time Boghall Were given a penalty which they converted well to go in at half time 1- 3 down.
The second half saw our other two trialists (Daniel Shaw + John Sweeney) introduced too the game and both gave an excellent first time performance. It took eighteen minutes before the next goal game came our way when Ryan Fielding claimed his hat trick with some great control from a high ball, turn and shot high past the diving keeper ( By far his best goal of the three). Boghall continued to press and on 20 minutes won another penalty which Peter brilliantly saved at the bottom left hand corner. He made several other good saves to keep the three goal margin. Boghall mananged to get a second goal when Jack T tried to clear form the six yard box but a deflection off Ross McLauchlan's shoulder ended up in the net for an O.G. Both teams continued to create chances but a good solid defencive performance meant we managed to hold on to the victory.
special thanks to Michael, Peter and Jack H who were all carrying injuries but still managed to put in excellent performances for the team.
Well done to all the boys including the three trialists for a hard fought performance and team effort (keep it up).
Thanks too all our supporters who got soaked at the side of the park.
Result Scottish Cup MU Red V Armadale SC (1 - 2) scorers- Ross (1) Pen
This was another great performance by the boys against a very good team from the A league.
For the first few minutes of the game Armadale pressed hard but didn't finish the chances they created. It took us 5 minutes to create our first chance when Ross just missed the ball at the back post from a good free kick from Ryan carson. 21 minutes in and we lost Gavin Wilson to a thigh injury he picked up in our last game against Boghall. Lewis Palmer came on in his place and played really well for his first game in the team.
The boys were growing in confidence and In 34 Minutes Andrew put a very good through pass to Ryan Fielding, Who with two defenders bearing down on him managed to get his shot away low to the keepers left but the keeper made a good save. After some very good defending by our defence, Blair Stryke picked the ball up in the inside right position and sent a good through ball to Andrew Herbison on the right wing who took his time and fired in a low cross to the back post, again Ryan F was in place to get his shot in but the keeper again made a good save low at his post. Half time came with score still level at 0 - 0.
Armadale again came out with a strong first few minutes bringing out a fine save from Peter with the resulting corner hitting the post and Peter gathering the return cross. Just before the 10 minute mark Peter was caught with late tackle for which the Armadale player was booked. Ross put in a great blocking tackle in the box to deny them another chance. Then the break through came when in 14 minutes Ryan Carson put another great ball into the box For Ryan F, who collected the ball and was brought down in the box - PENALTY! Ross stepped up calmly to the spot placed the ball and hits to Armadales replacement keepers left - Goal! The supporters go wild.
We held the lead until 18 minutes when Armadale crossed in from the left wing for the ball to be put in the net from 3 yards. In 20 minutes Peter makes a great save onto the bar from a shot outside the box. With Ryhs injured and off the park Armadale manged too score their second goal which proved to be the winner. we never gave up and fought hard right up too the final whistle. This was another great performance from the boys in defence who are gelling very well. The whole team should be proud after putting up a really good effort against a very good A league team.
Thanks too everyone who helped with the goals and especially David Brady who lined the pitch at short notice. Thanks too everyone who made the food for the buffet it was an excellent spread, just a pity Armadale didn't have time too try out some of the food.
good Luck to Armadale in the next round.
Result - League Mu Red v Livi Villa 2/9/08 (0 - 0)

This was a game that got away from us. for the first twenty minutes both teams were trying very hard but the middle of the park was being by passed and there weren,t too many chances created. It took 23 minutes before we created our first real chance after a good passing move involving Ryan Fielding, Blair stryke, who laid the ball off to Ryan Carson whose fierce shot hit the side netting.Ryan F. again got himself through on the keeper but his shot was well saved by the keeper. 30 minutes in and Villa come close with a good shot that Peter saved well and released a long clearance that Ryan F controlled and put Blair through but once again the shot goes wide. For the next 5 minutes Villa took control of the middle of the park and we couldn't get control of the ball with a few miss kicks giving away possesion too easily. Ryan Carson showed the way forward for the team when he collected the ball in his own half and set off on a surging run down the wing to the bye line, he crosses and Lewis shoots wide. We finished the half well when Ryan C. sent the ball into the box from a free kick and Michael Brady climbed above everyone to head a great effort off the crossbar, the rebound fell to Ryan F who sent another ball goalward that was saved brilliantly by the Villa keeper. Score remains 0 - 0 at half time.
We start the second half well when Villa clear the ball out from their box, Ross McLaughlan sends in a 30 yard drive just over the bar. 5 minutes in and we use three subs- Daniel Shaw, John Sweeney, and Rhys Swierkot. 24 minutes in and Peter makes another good save and throws to Daniel in midfield who sends a pass to Blair Stryke who shoots from outside the box but it was straight at the keeper who gathered well. 30 minutes in and the Villa keeper picks up a back pass 12 yards out in his box too give us a free kick. Excitement rises in the crowd will this be the goal at last! Jack Thomson places the ball and fires in the shot, The villa wall does its job and the ball comes out to the edge of the box, up pops Michael Brady who fires a very good shot just past the left hand post. 33 minutes in and Rhys with nimble feet beats three players and has his shot blocked. Ryan F has another effort cleared off the line by the villa defence. With the end of the game in sight we have a corner that was cleared out to the edge of the box and Blair fires in a shot that just bends wide of the left hand post. In the dying seconds Jack Thomson passes to Ryan C who turned his defender really well in the box but his shot goes wide.
Although the players came off disapointed at the end of the game at not winning, there were a lot of positives to take from the game. Everyone put in a great effort right to the end and we came away with a clean sheet. more of our players managed to have an effort on goal including our defenders and we created a lot of chances that on another day would have won any game. Keep the heads up and get ready for our next game in the regional Cup.

This was another game that got away from us. I don't want to dwell too much on the fact that poor conditions and a referee that frankly had little interest in the game contibuted to us lossing this game.
We as a team need too become more physical when other teams are trying to push us about. we showed some really good passing movements in the first half involving the defence, midfield, wingers and our front men, but didn't finish off our chances. When we go back to miss kicks and panic clearances we have suffered the concequences in the last two games by conceding poor goals, as in the first goal of this game. Too our credit the heads didn't go down and we managed too create several chances to equalise - Rhys got through 1 v 1 on the keeper but his lob was well saved, Jack Thomson's good free kick from the edge of the box was well saved and grabbed at the second attempt away from Ryan F who was close to the rebound. John Sweeney had a good shot well saved after one of our good passing moves down the right wing.
We did compete more in the second half and managed to score an equaliser through Ryan F that was ruled wrongly, off side.
Ross moving into the midfield gave us a more bite in this area but we just couldn't get the break through we needed. Their second goal came from a shot that Michael did brillianlty to clear off the line but was hit first time by their player on the edge of the box and flew straight into the top right hand corner giving Peter no chance. The third goal came from a foul in the midfield on John Sweeney that was not given (again!) and broke to their number ten who did finish off the chance well in the top corner.
Over all this was our second performance that was below what we are capable of producing against a team we should be beating. Our fitness level is improving as we finished this game strongly with no subitutes and with very heavy pitch conditions, we just need to be stronger physically and cut out the miss hits, take the chances we are creating and get back to the passing game we are capable of producing. Lets learn and improve for our next game against Whitburn.
